People long to connect. The success of Ancestry.com and the love of family trees is evidence of that. They call us a nation of immigrants, which we surely are. But these are not strangers. Though strangers to me, these were my ancestors…my people…my history. And I wish I had known them in something other than a name on an old boat manifest, or a fading photograph.
